Reward

"God nowhere tells us to give up things for the sake of giving them up.  He tells us to give them up for the sake of the only thing worth having--life with Himself."

Children of God

"Behold what manner of love the Father has bestowed on us, that we should be called children of God!"  (1 John 3:1)

"But when the fullness of the time had come, God sent forth His Son, born of a woman, born under the law, to redeem those who were under the law, that we might receive the adoption as sons.  And because you are sons, God has sent forth the Spirit of His Son into your hearts, crying out, 'Abba, Father!'  Therefore you are no longer a slave but a son, and if a son, then an heir of God through Christ."  (Galatians 4:4-7)

Children of God . . . what an incredible thought, what an amazing reality, what extravagant love!  To cry out, 'Abba, Father!' to the Holy, Holy, Holy One, how can this be?  To know that He has brought us near and is watching over us, how precious is this truth?  Oh, how I need the depth of this reality to be etched into my heart.  How I need to be taught by my Abba Father what it means to be His child, humbly dependent on Him, to be held by Him, lead by Him, transformed by His love.

Adopted. His. Rescued. Given a hope and a future. At home. Called by His name. Secure. Loved. Washed clean. Unspeakable JOY.

Sweet Conviction

"If a sudden jar can cause me to speak an impatient, unloving word, then I know nothing of Calvary Love.  For a cup brimful of sweet water cannot spill even one drop of bitter water, however suddenly jolted."                                                  ~Amy Carmichael

What a Friend We Have in Jesus

A favorite hymn and a favorite recording artist.  I hope you enjoy both as you find joy today in being simply His.  :)

What a Friend We Have in Jesus
by Joseph M. Scriven

What a Friend we have in Jesus,
All our sins and griefs to bear!
What a privilege to carry
Everything to God in prayer!
O what peace we often forfeit,
O what needless pain we bear,
All because we do not carry
Everything to God in prayer.

Have we trials and temptations?
Is there trouble anywhere?
We should never be discouraged;
Take it to the Lord in prayer.
Can we find a friend so faithful,
Who will all our sorrows share?
Jesus knows our every weakness;
Take it to the Lord in prayer.

Are we weak and heavy laden,
Cumbered with a load of care?
Precious Savior, still our Refuge,
Take it to the Lord in prayer.
Do your friends despise, forsake you?
Take it to the Lord in prayer!
In His arms He'll take and shield you;
You will find a solace there.

Blessed Savior, Thou hast promised
Thou wilt all our burdens bear.
May we ever, Lord, be bringing
All to Thee in earnest prayer.
Soon in glory bright unclouded
There will be no need for prayer.
Rapture, praise, and endless worship
Will be our sweet portion there.

(I highly recommend both of Chelsea Moon's albums, Hymn Project, Volume 1 and Hymn Project, Volume 2.  I stumbled upon them a few months ago, and they quickly became my new favorite albums to listen to.)
